Half-Term Holbeck Fun With ‘Kids Together’ – Pancake Flipping and Lots More!

20th February 2021

Although we were only able to meet online or together safely within restrictions, we organised a jam-packed week of fun this half-term. Local children and their families joined us for a range of online activities throughout the week. They also enjoyed lots of nutritious, home-cooked meals, as well as pancakes of course!

Flippin’ Marvellous!

To celebrate Pancake Day, local families were able to collect our Pancake recipe kits. These included a list of ingredients and instructions, a frying pan, pancake mix and most importantly, a choice of tasty toppings.

18 families joined us on Zoom for a live cook-along with lots of frying and flipping!

Animal-themed Family Quiz Afternoon

Families were able to collect quiz activity packs from St Matthews at the start of the week. These contained instructions for the quiz, pens and templates to decorate animal-themed masks, and lots of sweet treats to enjoy too.

Children of all ages joined us on Zoom for the afternoon, masquerading as all kinds of animals!

What a great quiz, we all had so much fun!

Thank you Holbeck Together, the girls absolutely loved the quiz afternoon!

Scavenger Hunt

For our final activity of the week, families wrapped up warm and enjoyed a walk around Holbeck to see if they could spot some signs of spring that had popped up around the community.

Wholesome Meals

Families collected fruit and veg hampers at the start of the week which included lots of ingredients for them to make their own nutritious meals, such as milk, bread, eggs and lots more.

They were also able to tuck into our Dinner Jackets free of charge for lunch on Monday and Thursday.

To round of the week, families were able to collect their chicken dinner hampers for the whole family to enjoy.

Thank You!

Huge thanks to Leeds Community Foundation’s Healthy Holidays funding which has enabled us to support our local children and families to stay healthy and active this half-term.

Chris Clyburn from Fullcrumb Kitchen and Dermot, Head Chef at St Vincent’s Leeds, kindly helped us to successfully host our Pancake Day extravaganza.

Thank you also to Morrison’s Hunslet for their kind donation of fresh pizza kits for families to enjoy, and TransUnion for their delicious homemade flapjacks which were given to families as part of their lunch.

Look out for updates on future activities and get in touch if you’d like to join us!
