to sustain and strengthen core community services

Holbeck Together is proud to announce the launch of a new three-year initiative, Live, Thrive, Work, Play, supported by The National Lottery Community Fund.

This latest development reflects over a decade of trusted partnership with The National Lottery Community Fund and represents the next evolution of the organisation’s previous programme, We Are Holbeck. It underlines Holbeck Together’s reputation as a key delivery partner for community-based work that directly addresses local needs and national priorities.

Activity has been co-designed with the local community, aligns closely with Holbeck Together’s long-term vision for the area and reflects a shared commitment to improving health, wellbeing, and community cohesion in Holbeck.

The project will embed long-term sustainability for Holbeck Together and benefit local people via three focused strands:

  • Growing financial sustainability through the continued development of our social enterprises and partnerships with local and citywide businesses.
  • Increasing community sustainability by building on recent diversity and engagement work to secure and strengthen new community connections.
  • Improving environmental sustainability by enhancing internal practices, launching a new Green Volunteering programme, and generating climate and environmental conversations across the community.

The Levelling Up investment is currently focused on redeveloping buildings and community spaces, Live, Thrive, Work, Play secures the investment into essential support services that people across Holbeck rely on every day. From support for older people to vibrant family activities and community voice forums and extensive Outreach services.

Elissa Newman, Chief Officer of Holbeck Together, said: “We’re proud of our trusted relationship with The National Lottery Community Fund, built up over many years, and this project reflects that shared understanding of what local communities need—not just to survive, but to truly thrive.”
