Northern Monk’s team to climb Three Peaks for Holbeck Together

23rd July 2023

On the 4th of August, a team from Northern Monk Brewery will be taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks to raise £5,000 for our community supermarket.

This fundraising campaign builds on the really strong relationship we have developed with Northern Monk over the last few years as a local business.

The company shows a continued interest in wanting to connect with the local community where they are based and support our work.

Ciaran Shier from Northern Monk highlights: “We’ve chosen to raise money for Holbeck Together’s community supermarket, as we are committed to working with our local communities to give back and create positive change. We have seen in so many ways the difference Holbeck Together’s activity makes to the local community and we believe businesses can be a force for good when partnering with local charities.”

Our community supermarket was set up to support families in Holbeck, particularly during the Covid pandemic. Now we are seeing increasing demand for affordable food items as the hike in food prices and the increasing cost of bills see many families struggling.

We are proud of the work we are doing to support families in Holbeck and in the last 12 months we have:

  • Had over 3,000 attendances, with an average of 60 community members each week.
  • Put 36,000 food items onto the plates of families across LS11.
  • Given away thousands of fruit and vegetables for free!

Three staff members from Holbeck Together will also join the team to climb the Whernside Peak.

Please show your support for our work today and donate to the Northern Monks’ Three Peaks challenge!
